A handful of planets are moving through your partnerships sector and your trust and sharing sector. They help you to heal emotional wounds that might make it difficult for you to trust others. This can bring more romance and intimacy into your love life. They also help you to build trust with your boss or an authority figure. This makes it easier for you to negotiate for bigger commission checks, more paid days off, better health insurance packages, and other forms of profit sharing. Your fun and playtime activities are causing financial or romantic problems, but otherwise the two of you seem to be getting along quite nicely.

Feature Article of the Week:
Santa’s Elves
When I was a small child, I had no idea that I had anything weird or funny looking about me. My stepmother informed me one day when I was about eight years old that they were considering having plastic surgery done on me. She went on to explain quite matter-of-factly that I had big Dumbo elephant ears and that they stuck out. She was cackling the way that wicked stepmothers do when they are ridiculing you. After spending a few days letting me know in detail all about my flawed ears and how much money it was going to cost them to fix them. She dropped the subject just as suddenly as it had been started. When I asked her about the upcoming doctor’s appointment, she told me that they had decided that my looks were not worth spending that kind of money. I would just have to live with it.
I have hidden my ears ever since. Even when I wear my long hair tied up, I always make sure that it somehow covers my ears or at least camouflages them. Little wispy curls and waves casually falling just in front of the ear do wonders to soften the look and distract the eye from the actual ears that protrude out on the side. As a teenager, I became quite obsessed with making sure that people did not see them. My stepmother eventually made sure that I became aware of other flaws in my appearance and in my personality. I spent a lifetime fixing and hiding them only to have her or some other person point out yet another flaw to me. It is no wonder that I grew up with the idea that at best I was ‘kind of cute’ some times. Even then, it took a minimum of two hours in front of the mirror working on hair, makeup, and wardrobe to design the perfect image. The nicest thing anyone would ever say to me after all of that work was, “You look kind of cute. What’s the special occasion?” Such was the foundation for my self-esteem.
This article is not about me and the journey I took from ugly duckling to the uniquely beautiful woman I see in the mirror today. This is actually about parenting and the way we project our own childhood dramas onto our children. We think that they will have the same gifts, the same goals, the same emotional pains, the same battle scars, the same approach to life that we had. We think they are miniature versions of ourselves, because they look so much like we did.
Both of my teenagers inherited my father’s ears from me. Yes, we are a family of Dumbos. My oldest boy can even wiggle his ears just like my father could. I never told them that they had funny ears or that they were anything less then beautiful in my eyes. I made sure to tell my children whenever anyone told me they too admired my darling children. I do my best to be the mother I wish I’d had, so I tell them they are wonderful. As a result, they did not know that they had funny ears. They always stood so proud and tall, never shirking or acting small. They never hid anything about themselves for fear that everyone was secretly pointing and laughing. I knew that one day they would be teenagers and they would critique themselves harshly enough. I also knew that the outside world would be cruel at times. When it happened, I was going to be compassionate and understanding. I was going to handle the situation with perfect motherly love and advice.
One morning in early December when my daughter was about six years old, we were standing together in front of an extremely large bathroom mirror. We were both fixing our hair, brushing out teeth, and such… getting ready for the day. She suddenly stops brushing her hair and starts freaking out, “Look at me! Look at me! Just look at me! Do you see that?! Are you looking?!” She was in a complete panic and I had pretty much no idea why, so I calmly asked her what it was that I was supposed to be seeing. “My ears! Look at my ears! Don’t you see them?!” My chest tightened and it was all I could do not to gasp. I thought I would have a few more years to figure out my perfect response to this moment. I was completely unprepared and had absolutely no idea what to say. All I could think to myself was “Think quick! You don’t want to scar her for life!” Before I had a chance to say anything she snaps at me accusingly, “I’m an elf. Look at me! I’m an elf!” My mouth hung open for just a second before I calmly nodded and said, “Yes. Yes, you are.”
“Why didn’t you tell me? Santa needs me! I need to hurry up and get to the North Pole!” She was adamant that she needed to get to Santa’s workshop and start helping along with the other elves. I explained to her that Santa had said that I could keep her and that she was a gift to me because I had been a really good girl. That is why her birthday was originally supposed to have been on Christmas Eve, because she is my Christmas Elf. She listened to me with that wise old woman look that she gets when it becomes clear to her that I have finally figured things out. Then without warning, she started screaming at the top of her lungs for her brother to come join us upstairs in the bathroom.
He had been watching a favorite video and was not in the mood to be bothered with her frivolous banter, but came upstairs nevertheless. She blurted out the entire story about how she was an elf and that Santa gave her to me and that was why she was not at the North Pole with the rest of the elves helping get the gifts ready for all of the other boys and girls. He took a long hard look at her ears and then bursts into tears. Upon asking him what was wrong, he told me how it was not fair that she always gets to be the cool one and not him. I had him stand in front of me facing the mirror and showed him his own ears. By ever so slightly tugging the tops up, they too looked just like elfin ears. He needed the verbal confirmation that he too was an elf and that Santa had also given him to me as a gift. “Yes, you were my first elf and I loved you so much that I wanted another elf and that’s when Santa gave me your sister, so I could have a matching set. And, you are both the very very best gifts anyone has ever given to me.”
For the next few years, they bragged about their elfin ears and how they were my special elves given to me by Santa himself. They held their heads high and with pride. It was a few years before they started to realize that it was just a genetic thing from my dad’s side of the family. Neither of them has ever cried or bothered to hide their ears since that day. When the Lord of the Rings movies came out, we all commented on how much my oldest boy resembles the elf warrior played by Orlando Bloom.
My daughter taught me that those things that make us different are the things that make us special. I had heard it said, but I had never seen it put into practice before that morning. They really are my magical little elves. Thank you, Santa

New Year's Day
To contact us Click HERE
New Year's Day is the first day of the year, January 1st.
The celebration of this holiday begins the night before on New Year's Eve, when Americans gather to wish each other a happy and prosperous coming year. At the stroke of midnight on New Year's Eve, people cheer and sing "Auld Lang Syne." The song, which means "old long since" or roughly "the good old days," was written by Robert Burns in 1788.

Making New Year's resolutions – pledges to change for the better in the coming year – is a common activity associated with this holiday. It is traditional to make toasts on New Year's Eve as well. Typically, the old year is represented by "Father Time," an elderly man with a flowing gray beard, and the new year is represented by an infant.
One of the largest New Year's Eve celebrations in the world is at Times Square in New York City where the New Year's Eve Ball descends at the stroke of midnight. The "dropping of the ball" is a custom derived from harbor time signals, a common visual synchronization procedure once used primarily for navigation and astronomy. Times Square has been the center of worldwide attention since 1904 when the owners of One Times Square began conducting rooftop celebrations to usher in the new year.
New Year's Day is the oldest and most universal holiday. The Romans were the first to observe January 1 as New Year's Day in 153 B.C. In 1582, Pope Gregory XIII instituted the Gregorian calendar still in use today, setting January 1 as New Year's Day. Prior to this, many countries celebrated the new year on April 1st in celebration with the new spring season. It was celebrated much the same way as it is today with parties and dancing into the late hours of the night. The origin of April Fools' Day can be traced to this change.

Prior to this, many countries celebrated the new year on April 1st in celebration with the new spring season. It was celebrated much the same way as it is today with parties and dancing into the late hours of the night. The origin of April Fools' Day can be traced to this change.

New Year's Eve is the last day of the year, December 31st.
The celebration of this holiday begins when Americans gather to wish each other a happy and prosperous coming year.

One of the largest celebrations in the world is at Times Square in New York City where the New Year's Eve Ball descends at the stroke of midnight.

Feature Article of the Week:
A Christmas Wish
My friends and family all know that I use them as my muses when I’m writing. Some of them have begged me to never reveal their identities and so for their sakes, the names have all been changed to protect the innocent, the beautiful, and the mean-hearted.
I know a woman I will call “Fairy.” I will call her that because she is a New Age type of a person. Her friend is a woman I will call “Angel.” I will call her friend that because she is a more traditional Christian. And so their story begins…
Fairy and Angel met when they were both young girls in school and became wonderfully close friends. They shared good times and bad as they went through middle school and high school together. They were part of a larger group of friends and at times they were very close and at other times they drifted apart. However, they both knew that they would be there for each other if they ever needed someone to lean on or to celebrate life with. They went on their first wild teenage road trip together. They shared the secrets of their dating lives with each other. They fully supported each other when it was time to leave high school and go out into the world as adults. That first summer after graduation, Angel found her soulmate and moved away to begin her “happily ever after.” Without meaning to, the girls lost touch for many years.
Fairy went away to college, fell in love, got pregnant, dropped out of school, and got dumped. Then she fell in love again, got pregnant again, and got dumped again. She struggled without a support system for many years trying to raise her babies all alone. People were quick to judge her, but slow to help. She spent many years falling in and out of love, but never finding that special someone who would love her and her babies. During one of the toughest parts of her life, God sent the Messengers down to tell her that she was not forgotten and that the reason she had suffered so much loneliness and heartache was because she was to teach “happiness” to the lost and lonely souls of the planet. She was sure that the Messengers had mistaken her for someone else. She was not the kind of person that people would listen to when it came to matters of happiness and joy. Who could possibly learn from her when she was still so miserable?
As time went on, the Messengers eventually persuaded Fairy that she did have a special purpose and that the work she would do would be holy and divinely inspired. So upon their assurances that she and her children would never starve or become homeless, she quit her ‘real job’ to go to work for God and his Messengers. She worked harder than she had ever worked before. She was used to working hard though, because she had always struggled and scrapped for every little thing that her children needed. She didn’t mind the long hours and occasional headaches that came from working for the Messengers, because they were much kinder and more appreciative of her efforts than any ‘real’ boss she had ever known. The thing that always struck her as odd and a bit frustrating was that she was never paid for her work. Somehow people would drift in and out of her life and they would subsidize her so that she could continue working. The agreement had been that the Messengers would not allow her and her children to suffer hunger or homelessness, so technically they were keeping their end of the deal even though it meant that Fairy was always obligated to keep her benefactors happy in order to keep the money coming in.
One day, Angel contacted Fairy to let her know that she and her family had come back to live in the same area. The girls were immediately reconnected again. It was sometimes difficult for Angel to relate to Fairy’s New Age beliefs and her choice to work for the Messengers rather than to get a ‘real job’ and become truly free and independent from the influence of others. As time went on, Angel began to see what working for the Messengers meant to Fairy and that even though they may not agree about all things spiritual, they did agree that Fairy’s work could help lots of people. It meant so much to Fairy to have Angel’s love and support.
One year at Christmas time, Fairy was in a really tough place. Her benefactor was not giving her nearly enough money to live off of anymore and she had nobody else to turn to. Her spiritual work was not bringing in much money at all because the same people that she wanted to help were angry with her for putting a price tag on her work. They felt that Fairy should work for free if she was really working for the Messengers and not simply working for greed. This attitude hurt Fairy, but she still continued giving her gift to the world even if some people were so unappreciative. The letters that she received from those who had been helped by her work touched her so deeply that she would often cry just to imagine that she had been so privileged as to be allowed to help them. But all of the love letters and fan mail could not save her from the financial problems that had escalated due to her lack of income.
Her car had been dead for months, her utilities were all about to be shut off, and there was no money to give her children any kind of a Christmas celebration. People did not want to help her because she was a big girl and had made her own choices. They would rather give anonymously to charities rather than help someone they knew personally. Finally, Fairy prayed to the Messengers telling them that she desperately needed help.
The next day, she called Angel and asked her for help running an errand. She needed for Angel to pick up an item and deliver it for her. Angel went a step further, she paid to fix Fairy’s car so that she and her children would be able to drive back and forth to the grocery store and to run errands whenever she needed to. Angel wanted Fairy to be able to take her children to the doctors, to buy medicine in the middle of the night, or wherever else they might need to go if an emergency situation should occur. So, when Angel showed up the next morning to deliver the item, she informed Fairy that she was paying to fix the car. Angel had given Fairy back some freedom and mobility as a Christmas gift. Fairy cried because it had been many years since anyone had been so kind towards her.
After Angel left that morning, Fairy went back to her desk to continue working. The local morning radio show was in the holiday spirit and decided to have listeners call in and share their “Pay It Forward” stories. As Fairy listened to all of these amazingly beautiful stories of people giving anonymously to families in need over the holidays, she wept again. Some of the callers had been the recipients and others the givers. They all were moved and forever changed by the experiences. Fairy knew that the best way for her to “Pay It Forward” was to keep doing the spiritual work that the Messengers had asked of her. After all, they were the ones who had sent Angel to help her. They would see to it that Fairy and her children were taken care of.
For various reasons, both of these women want me to keep their names out of the story. But the story is beautiful and needed to be shared. This year, my Christmas wish is that all of you who have been called upon to work for the Messengers will know that your work matters and you will be taken care of. And to all of you who have not been called to work, but know that you have the means to love and support those who do the work of God, please remember to do what you can to look after those in need. God bless the fairies and the angels and protect them both throughout the year.

Looking Up Newsletter
Good morning,
I know we all complain a lot about the materialistic nature in which many people celebrate the holidays. But I do think that our love for one another does play a role in how much overspending and over-giving we do. We should still try to create balance between our generous gift giving and our need to find quality time with each other over the holidays. And we should not forget to check on loved ones, neighbors, and community members that might be alone over the holidays. I hope you are feeling loved and cared about, wherever you are.
take care,
Skye Thomas

Feature Article of the Week:
Money Equals Love
When we think of prosperity and of creating abundance, it is easy enough to see how working at a job that we love helps us to earn more money than if we worked at a job we hated. We can see that if we add plenty of love and warm-fuzzies towards how we treat our coworkers, bosses, employees, and customers, then it makes sense that people will like doing business with us and we will earn more money. We can understand how putting our love into the goods and services that we sell makes for superior products and therefore raises the perceived value of our goods and services. Here is the hard part… it holds true in our personal relationships too.
How many women complain that their husbands do not spend enough time with them? The wife complains that her husband does not appear to really care about her. She thinks there is a lack of deep emotional connection between the two of them. “You don’t say that you love me! Therefore you must not love me!” He quickly points out that his lack of flowers and romantic words does not mean that he does not love her. After all, he works hard to earn enough money so that she can live in the house they share and so that she can choose to work, shop, raise kids, or whatever it is she does with her time. She says that she appreciates the money, but it is not the same as love. The argument can be condensed down to this… she does not see money as a symbol of love the way that he does. So many men feel under-appreciated for their long hours working to support their families. And they feel that they are unfairly harassed for not spending enough quality time with the wife and kids.
Time is money. That makes sense. Bosses hire employees for their time on the job. Most people are paid an hourly wage or a monthly salary. How much they are paid per unit of time is determined by their expertise and the quality of work they perform. However, the boss is paying his employees to do what he does not have the time to do himself.
Love is time. When you love someone, you naturally want to spend quality time with them. You miss them when they are gone too long. Go to any retirement home or a home for abused children. The most important thing to these people is the personal time that you give them. Studies have shown that teenagers who spend a great deal of quality time with their families are far less likely to experiment with drugs and alcohol. When you volunteer your time to a charity, a school, or a political campaign, it is because you love what it stands for.
Time is a non-renewable resource. We have a set number of hours each day that we can experience life. We can fritter it away laying out in the yard on a sunny day doing nothing much or we can organize the heck out of it making sure we live every single moment to the fullest. Sometimes we find out in advanced that we are sick and have x number of days, weeks, months left to live. Usually, we have no idea how many days we have left.
So, when we give the boss our time in order to earn money for those that we love, then we are, in a way, giving the loved one our time. The husband could decide that he would rather sit around watching TV all day or he would rather go fishing, but instead he goes to work every day so that his family can have a nice house and nice things to put in it. He has given her his fishing time and his TV watching time. Yes, he still needs to spend some time talking and connecting on an emotional level because all money and no romance is very lonely. However, she needs to see that he has, in a roundabout way, given her his time and energy. He really is trying to give her a gift from his heart.
To illustrate the point even further, we love professional athletes, musicians, actors, and other entertainers so much that we will pay a fortune to see them perform. Those highly paid athletes are making that kind of money because we love them! If we did not love them, then they would not get the ticket sales. It would not matter how well they threw the ball if nobody wanted to watch them do it. Famous celebrities are rich because a lot of people love their work.
This is not to say that it is okay to give money in lieu of love, but rather that for many men, this is their greatest symbolic gesture. Remember too, they are hunters at heart. The caveman had to bring in the dinner or his loved ones would perish. They give money like women give hugs and kisses to babies. Look at the single mom who cannot spend time with her children because she is always working to financially support them. It is not because she does not love them. The same thing holds true for two-income families, the mothers do not love their children any less just because they are gone working instead of home baking cookies. Men need to remember too, that ONLY giving money as a symbol of their love is like a woman ONLY cooking and cleaning as a symbol of her love. Both are huge gifts of the heart, but they are certainly not the only gifts that are needed for a strong bond.
Money does equal love, but there are many additional forms of love to share. Women hate to feel like they are just a paid housekeeper, cook, and chauffeur in a relationship. Men hate to feel like they are just a life support system for a wallet. Money cannot buy love and love alone will not create money, but the two are able to be converted back and forth into each other. The one can equate to the other. Love can make you prosperous, and sometimes money means “I love you”.

All married couples should learn the art of battle as they should learn the art of making love. Good battle is objective and honest--never vicious or cruel. Good battle is healthy and constructive, and brings to a marriage the principle of equal partnership. - Ann Landers

New Year's Day

Feature Article of the Week:
Calling Forth a Soulmate
How do I draw a soulmate into my life? You don’t. I’ve read plenty of books that tell you how to do it, but I don’t believe for a minute that you can place your cosmic order and your perfect ideal twin soul is going to materialize just like that at your front door. It doesn’t happen that way. You can open your heart and mind to finding a beautiful loving relationship, but chances are that using the word soulmate will almost jinx you from finding it. Why?
For many of us, when we think of a soulmate, we think of someone perfect. Someone who is gorgeous, brilliant, funny, naturally happy and kind. We think of someone who wants exactly the same things out of life that we want. We picture a meeting right out of the movies where both parties meet on the street and instantly fall madly head over heels in love. We think that there will never be any conflict beyond a quaint debate over what colors to paint the baby’s nursery. We imagine lovemaking that is so phenomenally perfect the first time that one cries from the sheer artistic beauty and telepathic oneness. All problems and challenges in our lives will suddenly melt away into faint memories because our soulmate has arrived and their presence alone is so cosmic and amazing that all else pales in comparison.
Yeah, and if I say my affirmations with enough conviction, gold coins are going to start growing instead of dandelions in my yard too! Wake up! If you’re dreaming of that kind of a soulmate, then you need to rent some good movies and call it good. Love does not work like that and you know better. Look at it this way…. You are the other half of that equation. Let’s be serious. If you are someone’s soulmate and they find you -- are you capable of being that incredibly flawless and perfect for them? No of course not. Nor are they. Soulmates are as mixed up and weird as you are. They may have the same flaws as you do or completely different ones. If you are holding out for that fantasy, then you are playing a psychological game with yourself. You have created an impossible dream to hide behind so that you do not have to risk falling in love with a real human being, warts and all.
Yes, I do believe that there are extremely rare cases where one ‘feels’ or ‘knows’ there is a certain person they are meant to find and they are haunted by the need to find that one person. They are doomed to hunt for that needle in a haystack. But let’s get serious, that is not the norm. We have all heard so much about soulmates that we just think it would be really cool. Well, it’s not. It sucks to spend a lifetime passing up real love with real people because somewhere out there is this voice calling your name. You doubt your sanity and spend most of your life lonely and searching. Don’t do it. Find real love with real people instead.
Change your definition of soulmate. Call to yourself someone who is open and real. Call to yourself someone who is genuine and capable of love on a real everyday level in a real everyday world where people get up and go to work and pay bills. Call to yourself someone who knows how to show and express their love without manipulation and head games. Call forth a forever kind of love. Call forth a best friend that you can sit with in your rocking chair on the front porch when you are too old to make love anymore. Call forth someone who loves you enough to kick you in the butt when you are screwing up. Call forth someone who will shout from the rooftop when you are deserving of praise too. Call forth someone who is a loyal and faithful lover willing to learn and grow with you behind closed doors. Leave the rest to fate. Don’t define them. Don’t imagine the look of their face or the color of their eyes. Don’t predetermine anything else about them. Let them be exactly who they are and you be who you are. Then work on making yourself into the same type of person that I just described so that you will be worthy of them when they show up.
When you go through your ceremonies, affirmations, and prayers for your soulmate, ask the heavens to help you to be open-minded and to not judge what that person is supposed to be. Ask for a feeling of their essence so that you will recognize it when you see them for real. How does it feel to be with them? If you had a perfect ideal partner, you would not be able to relax and be yourself because they were not of the same energy as you. Improve yourself so that you can be your best and ask for a partner that matches your level of development so that you can grow and improve together. You don’t want to have a partner who is in every way superior to you because they are perfect and you are only human, do you?
Unless you can lighten up your definition of what a soulmate is, then you really should not use the term. It will only bring you loneliness and heartache if you insist on waiting for perfection. The best advice I can give you if you want an amazing forever kind of love is to be healthy, happy, and independent. Quit worrying about when love will find you and get busy with living your life. Keep your heart open and your eyes open for the possible love of a lifetime, but don’t obsess over it. Whatever is meant to be will be -- whether you call it to you or not. Call for help being a beautiful soul. Trust that the rest will fall into place in its own perfect time.

And a special “thank you” to those of you that put on a huge big fancy display, you really entertain us!
take care,
Skye Thomas
